While I enjoy playing games on my mobile phone, reviewing Sexy Poker 2004 was not quite as easy... I couldnt just play it anytime I like, especially in a crowded train ride with ladies around. Nevertheless, I managed.
Youll have to be patient when starting this game as it took me 40 seconds to wait for the menu page, and another 20 seconds to start a game. But youll find this wait worthwhile.
You can start the Quick Play mode (game type and lady will be randomly selected) or the Full Play mode where you get to choose. There are 3 types of games available - poker, blackjack and video poker. However, I noticed I had to win 3 times before the video poker is unlocked for play. There are 5 gorgeous and sexy ladies to play with you. Youll have to win one of them in a game before you can play with the next. By winning I mean having them strip down to nothing!
The quality of the images are pretty good, and not static. Instead, the ladies show different expressions on their faces. It gave me some tickles when I saw it. The developer mentioned these ladies have artificial intelligence when playing the match, and you may be able learn to see their expressions to guess what they have in their hands. However, I didnt spot the clues as I was looking more at the cards which can be quite unreadable at that resolution.
During game play, the ladies will make short conversation dialogues which made the game more fun to play. The music (not continuous during gameplay) is crisp, audible and pleasant. Apparently theres a story to this game, but it wont bother me if there had been none.
Theres help menu which provides game control and information about the various games. During a game, you can also refer to the help menu so that youll know if 3 of a kind is better than 2 pairs for example. Theres also a gallery section for you to indulge in. Do note that you can only see what you had seen after your winnings.6
One good feature is the game save option (only 1 save is allowed) which allows you to resume the game where youve left off. This works only in the Full Play.
I would have preferred the animation to be extended to the whole body instead of just the face. You may find that the button press during gameplay is slightly slow in responding. So if youre in a rush, dont start this game. Since the screen size is limited, the card display might have been improved on some handsets... for example, just show one Ace of Heart instead of displaying it at the 2 corners of the card.
Simple gameplay, good image quality and nice music are more than enough to entice me to continue playing this game for a while more. I still prefer Poker as its relatively easier to win than blackjack/video poker. After all, theres plenty of incentive why I want to win.
